Movember & SMP Saddles

It's now the end of Movember, the month formerly known as November. As you may well have noticed there are plenty of blokes (and the odd lady) sporting mostaches to raise awareness and money for mens health issues. One of the main issues being Prosate Cancer.
Over the years i have conducted countless professional bike fits. Frequently i have cyclists coming to me suffering from "saddle discomfort". This would have to be one of the most common complaints that I run into. There is a vast array of issues which arise as a result of direct saddle pressure to guys and girls "undercarriage". Specifically for men, prostate issues can be one of the most troublesome.
Prevalent symptoms include 
- sharp local pain
- refered pain
- painful urination
- inflimation of the proatate
- passing of blood in urine
There is no evidence that shows cycling increases the chance of developing prostate cancer, however any of the symptoms listed above can cause a great amout of greif to the rider. Cyclists who currently have or have had prostate cancer in the past quite often resort to completely stopping riding as it can be too uncomfortable or painful to sit in the saddle.
There is one Italian saddle manufacturer who is a godsend for people suffering from saddle discomfort issues. Selle SMP has been manufacturing bicycle saddles in Italy since the 1940's. In fact they are the only major saddle company who has resisted outsourcing its manufacturing to Asia.

Used to to suffer from numbness of the "undercarriage" after only 30 minutes of riding. Never again after switching to the SMP saddle. I found it took a few weeks to adjust to the SMP - due to the change in contact points. I now have two SMPs - one for each bike: road and MTB.
I agree it does take a lot of people a little while to adjust to the new saddle.(This goes for and brand or model change). As the SMP takes pressure away from the soft tissue at the middle of the saddle, there is a more concentrated pressure level on the sit bones. This can take a little getting used to but it is a great compromise. Your sit bones are the one part of your bum that was actually designed to bear weight. Most people who change to an SMP end up buying one for each of their bikes.
The most difficult thing is to find a blog with unique and fresh content but i think you offer something different. Keep it like this.
